The amount of mg in the CBD Burger most likely won’t have much effect. I’m sure all the health benefits of the CBD will be drowned out by all the calories and fat. However, this shows the impact of CBD craze taking over America and Carl Jr’s CBD burger has got the internet buzzing. This shows how smart marketing is done right. It’s riding a trend, it’s something different and its bold enough to get people talking. Furthermore, they show respect to the Cannabis culture by releasing it on 4/20 for $4.20. Well done Carl’s Jr, too bad it’s only available at one location in Denver.

Carl’s Jr. announces the debut of their cannabis-infused burger on Saturday, April 20, at one of their branches in Denver, Colorado.
The one-day event is a test run for the burger dubbed the Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight. Afterwards, the fast-food chain can determine whether they’ll be permanently offering this menu item in the future or not.
With this one-day test, Carl’s Jr. becomes the very first major fast-food joint to offer a cannabis-infused product on their menu.
The Secret Sauce
The Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight will be available for $4.20 at a single location in Denver.
Unsurprisingly, its main feature is what the company call the “Santa Fe Sauce,” which is infused with CBD or cannabidiol, the non-psychoactive component of cannabis. While the sauce is the heart of the burger, the Rocky Mountain High is a fully packed burger with two beef patties, pickled jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, and fries.
Those who are interested in trying out the burger can pick it up at the branch at 4050 Colorado Blvd. in Denver on Saturday, April 20, at 6 a.m. onward.
Behind The Scenes
While the CBD-infused burger does drop on the day when cannabis users celebrate marijuana, Carl’s Jr. isn’t offering the Rocky Mountain High as a publicity stunt. The move has already been in the minds of the people behind the company.
“I was sitting down with our head chef Owen Klein, and we were talking about trends,” Patty Trevino, Carl’s Jr. senior vice president of brand marketing, says in CNN Business. After the fast-food chain launched their vegan burger earlier in 2019, they brainstormed for a wish list that includes a product infused with CBD.
“We looked at ourselves and said, you know what, let’s try.”
With trendy products such as a CBD-infused burger, she says the company is seeking to make their customers happy and attract a younger crowd that is more open to trends and new flavors.
“It is something that feels right for the brand,” Trevino concludes. “We are all about innovation.”
The Rise Of CBD-Infused Products
Carl’s Jr. isn’t the only company who are looking to offer CBD to consumers.
With the widespread legalization of marijuana in the country and beyond, more companies are becoming more open to offering products with CBD, which has a range of potential health benefits. CBD topicals are becoming available at Walgreens and CVS, while restaurant chain By Chloe is already serving CBD-infused sweets, according to Business Insider.
Carl’s Jr. is sourcing their CBD oil from Colorado-based Bluebird Botanicals.
